To give this Station a Purpose the Goods sold there should only be avaible there and probably only available after completing a Task first. It would just be a specialized Trading Dock. The Planetary Trading Station would just be another MegaStation with Goods to be traded, so not much Immersion Enhancement there. Giving the X Planets an actuall purpose on Principle would be a Reasonable Idea. It is exciting to fly to a new area and find that the stations are a bit different, or thaty something odd is happening there. You are correctg that I want variety and uniquiness. In Rebirth I loved flying around those massive HOL stations in the blue sky.

Planet landings add a lot of opportunities but do need good resources poured into them if they are to look good. I would say to others (as a planet landing lover) don't get hung up on planet landing what you really seek is variety and uniqueness. I don't ask ES anymore about planet landing because I get the variety and that is enough for gameplay. The point was to give the player variety in their environment whether or not you touch the surface I'm not sure matters that much. Egosoft in XR (for all its faults) did close horizon or low orbit stations and you know what it bloody well worked. Originally posted by BigBANGtheory:tbh I am a huge fan of planet landing and when ED was released I jumped straight into it as soon as it was available and loved it. Perhaps in the future allow the player to "colonize" a planet by building a massive PTO and transport colonist + goods as a mega grind project for the player. With this trade from 1 planetary trading outpost to another races might offer profits to the largest tradeships (massive volume, low price). What is the point of a civilization expanding to space if no resources or finished goods (trade) are ever sent back home. And again - you don't need to make it possible to land on a planet! Special interfaces, sub-menus, texts etc. I think the idea opens a huge area for new features and possibilites in game - like new types of goods and wares etc.

For example you guys could make a new type of space station - Planetary Trading Outpost (or something like that) - where the player and AI would be able to collect trade offers and requests from a planet surface. But what about the planets? Maybe they can be brought into the "game"? Like supplying planet based corporations, factories, population with all kind of goods? I'm not talking about making it possible to actually land on a planet. Buying, selling - only to satisfy and feed everything which is in sapce.

Freud:So far we've been running space economies in the X universe strictly IN SPACE. IMO this would make the whole "economy" part of the game much bigger and add a lot to the immersivnes of our beloved series. I think the idea opens a huge area for new features and possibilites in game - like new types of goods and wares etc.Īnd then you could make it possible to actually build new types of stations ON a planets surface (again - no need in landing-on-a-planet-surface gameplay - all can be done through some kind of interface where a planet would be rendered in a from-space view) and export goods from planets into space. So far we've been running space economies in the X universe strictly IN SPACE.
